:behead:Can anybody point me in the right direction to obtain a copy of the frnch wiring regulations as I wish to wire my french property legally

block the road with a tractor , then do it however you want to.

Yes, the lorry drivers will block all ports too, often at a few minutes notice and without a ballot.

The NFC-15-100 is the standard for electrical installation and most product standards are totally different to the UK, with a penchant for flexible conduits!
Be very careful with selection of meterials, unless things have changed, the Consuel will have to inspect the installation before a supply is connected.

The French version of the IEE (CEE) wiring regulations which correspond to the UK regs is NFC15-100 for BT which can be obtained from [h=3]Norme C15-100 En Ligne | Boutique.Afnor.org[/h]the French equiv of BS... They are much the same as in the UK, but the supply is completely different and the materials, building methods &c &c so - in practice - things are done very differently. As a French qualified Electrician I would not be able to touch a UK installation - and - in actual fact - the reverse applies.

For details of NFC 15-100 you could look at Norme NF C 15-100 - Schneider Electric

There is a very good guide produced by PROMOTELEC (Promotelec : Norme installation électrique, certification électricité, label hpe Promotelec pour une meilleure sécurité), which I would recommend.

The standards are indeed harmonized, but the European standards have to take into account very different situations - and languages - so they are more like "the standard is - that there are appropriate regulations in place in each member country".

I must tell you I have had to redo so much wiring done by Les Anglais - and now that the electrics are inspected for the house sellers when they put up a house for sale - etc - it is best (but not cheap) to conform to French regulations and practices all the way down the line.

The application for an inspection by the regional Consuel has to be made by the registered tradesman (with a SIRET - and the particular French liablity insurance) - the rules are getting tight here and work by British DIY-ers is discouraged.

Sorry to correct you, but an individual can apply for a consuel inspection, however the inspectors tend to take a more in depth look than those applied for by a registered artisan.

The rules are getting tighter here, but that can only be a good thing, I have been called out to two jobs in the past week, where one had an earth that was reading 1328ohms and the other was a new installation done by a so call british builder that had no earth at all and was totally wired several rolls of 3 core 1.5mm cable.

Hmmmm ... Although this is an old thread i would assume the French regs still are subject to copywrite and thus this thread won't bode well for the forum.

Time to close and erase it me thinks!
