There is a guy local to me selling these fs5'sky' boxes for £120 via facebook, claiming you get the box and a 12 month subscription to all the sky channels (sport, pay per view, 3pm football, everything)

After a bit of research I believe they do work, you do get what they claim, and having located a seller on ebay selling them for £80, i'm very close to buying one.

I'm not particularly looking for comments regarding the legality of these boxes, I believe the boxes are perfectly legal for them to sell, but its the descrambling device that isn't, but if it saves me £50 a month i'm not that fussed.

I'm thinking of a trial for a month or 2 before cancelling sky just to make sure i'm happy with it.

Question 1 - Does anyone have one of these or seen one working? are you happy with it?

Q2 - Does it need to plug into phoneline or will wifi pick it up?

Q3 - Surely SKY must be on to it, anything they can do to put a stop to it?

Thanks in advance

I know theres some sort of 'card' that comes with them so whether thats just programmed for 12 months or something I don't know, then u pay £60 odd a year to 'renew'.

Hopefully someone on here will have some more info.

These boxes off eBay etc are just pre loaded card sharing boxes, they are preloaded with a code ( cam line ) or ( newcam line )... This is text you enter into the box to access your card sharing provider ( normally in Europe )
If your card sharing provider is good, you won't get much if any glitching or freezing, but lots of the providers are over subscribed and glitch and freeze.... Lots of these providers also start up, take a load of subscriptions then disappear leaving you out of pocket and absolutely no way of getting your cash back... You then have to source and pay for a new line and hope for the best.

Most HD channels are now blocked, don't believe anyone who says otherwise.

Sky are working hard to counter card sharing, so who knows how long it will last, blocking of the HD channels could be the start of the end.

Yes the boxes will need plugging into your router, there are more expensive boxes that have wifi but the fs5 isn't one of them IIRC.

Hope that helps

I've got one it's a software programme you flash on via USB drive works actress need Ethernet and sat connection. Make sure you get the latest release to include your 3 D channels

I think its time that the EU had a good look at these "exclusive" TV deals in countries - they do nothing for competition and thus those who choose to subscribe to such channels get ripped off!

Nothing more than with my old sky box. Have to be honest I paid £80 for the box last year and well worth it. Done my own this time and visit me £40 as wanted more storage space
