Hi

Reference Dead tests in 2392-10.In any of dead tests does functional earth lead on RCD. have to be disconnected as per RCBO,s??

I have surface mounted PVC light switches on upstairs circuit with open ended CPC,.s.Will this affect R1+R2 readings?? As they are a little high

Angus.................Still learning

Do RCDs have a functional earth lead? I haven't seen any.

If by open ended CPC you mean that it is not connected to an earth terminal in the light fitting, then this will not affect the R1+R2 readings as you will be testing from the end of that CPC.

High readings can often be caused by loose connections, just make sure the terminals are done up securely for each fitting and switch (and in the CU).

thanks for that .Have checked RCD( BS EN 61008).Definitely has white fly lead running to MET.The reason for the Question is that in Insulation Resistance Test they advise disconnection of functional earth on RCBO,s would this be the same for rcd fly lead.? RCD: MEM A100 HE

Angus

If there is a fly lead then yes I would disconnect it as it would be irrelevant to the testing of the fixed wiring, could cause a false reading and just in case it would fry the RCD!
Just my opinion not really backed up by proof, just same as you; sounds like a good idea.

some of the MEMs had em richard....they use em on the big rig for the 2391 n all.....to see if candidates can recognise the presence of functional earths ......
