hi just wondering how long should you allow to change a fuse board and how much to charge the customer ? because i dont want to be too cheap but competitive

How long is a piece of string, comes to mind with the information you have provided. Unless your doing multiples of CU changes on say, the same estate you can quote a pretty standard rate, but generally each CU change is going to be different, and each CU change would need cost assessing in it's own right!! How often you could apply a standard rate to a CU, is hit or miss i would think....

lets say that the CU in question is just a 16th edition 10way split and your updating to a 17th edition. The incoming wires are just the old red and blacks and all they have asked is for the board to be changed

The reason i am asking is because i get alot of people asking me to just change there board my old boss used to just say £250 but i have seen alot of people on here quoting silly prices so i was just wondering what other people are charging

Have yet to come across a customer that's wanted a 16th edition board upgraded. Has this been recommended to them by a spark or is there another reason for the upgrade?

If it's a straight swap and all tests out fine, no bonding, no tails, no alterations, no fault finding and correction, then I would say £250 would be about right. Any of the above list would be extra. You'll get plenty of work at that price and still make a good amount of money.
