Hi All, an electrician has used 1 / 1.5m cables to power 3 fuse spurs that will power 3 intruder panels. Is this cable size correct, if not can any please point me in the right direction where i can find this in the Regs. With thanks

What you will find in the regs is tables of current carrying capacities of cables and installation methods that may affect those values

The estimated load will probably be extra small
He has most probably installed what he believes is adequate,so what is the problem

The security installers have said it should be 2.5 cable and the 1 / 1.5m is the wrong cable. The plumber has also said he feels that the spur powering the boiler is wrong sized. Just need to know who is right and who is wrong, while there is time to change the cable is required.

as long as the cable is fuse/mcb protected cordingly, and is capable of carrying the load, no problem. if he's tapped into a ring final, it will need a FCU at the poit of connection into the rfc. same applies to the boiler. thats generally only a 3A FCU.

Hi,

What size mcb are they being fed from and total load of each panel. Should image basic alarm panel no more than 3amp. if from 6a mcb don't see it being a problem. A socket can be fed in minimum 1.5mm from ring main so long as they are fused down to 13a at the spur off point. (OSG under heading fused spurs/non fused spurs)

Unless you can confirm the "source" circuit which these "spurs" come from and the rating of the MCB protecting the circuit further comments aren't going to be too definitive!

As for the plumber if its the "load" side of the spur and its going to be 13a max I can't see a problem.
