Working on a house where the distribution cut out and meter will now be positioned in a bathroom after rooms have been altered around,am I allowed to install a consumer unit next to dno meter,if a lockable cupboard is built around these items in this now will be new bathroom,Many Thanks

looking at the job it looks like the dno meters are going to be within the 0.6m from the shower screen,so zone 2,but wondering if its okay if it has a waterproof cupboard built around it.

I'm doing a similar job ATM. I found it a strange setup and felt uncomfortable even doing the job so I phoned my technical support. Their reply - no RCD protection for supply cable, non compliant. Cupboard or no cupboard. It's being moved now, customers choice to put the bathroom there so upto them to pay for it to be moved.

Personal view on this, but if it feels "iffy",it probably is.I don't need a green book to tell me of possible future issues. If you need to use the phrase "waterproof-cupboard",then the risks have already been identified. Although it would mean i could realise a childhood ambition, fiddling with a seal while i'm in the bath...

Not a good idea having the meter etc in the bathroom so to be avoided.

But if its in a locked cupboard within the bath room I would take the view its not in the bathroom, so zones don't count after all you wouldn't take the view that a socket installed the other side of the wall to the bath was within zone 2 would you ?

I recall someone coming across a meter and CU installed under the bath now that was bad,

This has got to be one of the best commonsense answers I've seen.
