Hi all

I have question if i may, i changed the face plates on the neighbours sockets and other kitchen appliances to new chrome ones and it all went well, checked everything no problems now a week later the spur for the under cabinet lights is tripping the RCD, i never had anything to do with the electrics i just changed the face plates, i think the spur is being feed from the kitchen light circuit i forgot to asked when she rang me, she said she hasn't done anything to the circuit or anything so why i wonder all of a sudden why it started tripping out the RCD.

it was all working perfectly before but she said she does not use them often and she only realised today it was tripping out.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards
Dean

Possibly a fault on the under cupboard lights or the fused spur isn't breaking the line and neutral at the same time when being switched and imbalancing the RCD.

Are all the lights working on the under cabinet lighting? had a job last winter where one of the leds had gone in a sealed lamp, each lamp having several leds inside, was tripping rcd when turned on. changed lamp out and no more trips

You made it your problem by touching the electrics though now! Have you done any investigating/testing?

Have you checked that there aren't any pinched conductors when you changed the face plates, and what makes you think the spur is fed from the lighting circuit?

Hi mate
no i havent checked yet but i will tomorrow when i go round, my neighbour said she thinks they are fed from the lighting circuit in the kitchen, when i first fitted the faceplate it all worked great now its tripping..i will see what i can find out tomorrow.

How do you know it's the spur that's tripping?

Will it reset for any period of time or does it trip instantly?

My first point of call would be to check the connections on the spur.
