UK Fused Spur To Workshop

I plan on using a fused spur to route power to a workshop using 10mm2 SWA off a regular 13Amp ring main socket.
The workshop will have its own dedicated CU fitted.
My question is, what size fused spur switch should I be using? Is a 13A sufficient?

It would be better to put the workshop supply on its own dedicated circuit from your house CCU or incoming supply. There would not be much point in running a 10mm swa to a 13A spur. If it is a workshop and not just a garden shed with say just a light and socket for occasional use then the spur option will be unsuitable since the demand is likely to be higher than 13A.

You are not going to be able to connect a 10.0 swa into a fused spur.

I would say 2 LED strip lights and a maybe 3 or 4 double sockets. I can't imagine running more then a couple bits of kit at a time. e.g treadmill or mitre/table saws & other hand held power tools

It is worth discussing with your electrician but, I fear that even what you are listing is likely to be too much for a fused spur, especially when the kettle or fan heater is being used.

Remembering that I am unable to tie into the house CU, is there a more suitable bit of kit that could be used to tie in and feed the workshop CU?

Ok, well it really depends on what you want from this. If you want to do the job properly and in a sustainable way, then you really need to look at alternatives. My advice would be to consult an electrician to do a site survey.

A new build is a lot more likely to have an external box than an older property, so where is your meter?

Meter is in a cupboard by my front door. only access from inside.

Cupboard on inside of outside wall? If so then it could run externally from there

As Intoelectrics said it is probably best you consult an electrician to go through these options with you. Without knowing the property it is hard to guess a possible route
