I have an old 60A BS 1361 fused switch in the garage that used to be used for an old 1970s electric heating system now no longer in use. This is being fed from an 80A main fuse at the cut out.
Could I come out of the 60A fused switch with 6mm/2.5mm CPC to serve a small RCD protected garage consumer unit housing a 20A breaker for some sockets and a 6A breaker for a some lighting? The length of run to the garage consumer unit is literally only 2 meters.
Thanks for your help

First as you said old 70's type Electric heating, would these have been night storage heaters ..............and if they are then is this 60amp Switch fuse working on a normal tariff or an off peak one. Obviously if it is off peak then your lights and sockets will only work during the night.

Depending on the state of the switch fuse I can see no other problems with that. Though 40 year switch gear do have a tendency to fail.

Thanks for your help. I thought it would probably be okay but it is so easy to miss something and not conform. The electric heating was space heating and the house has vents everywhere and is not on economy 7 so that should be okay as well.
Thanks again
