Hi everyone, :)
Just looking for some advice
At present the garage has fcu feeding 2 sockets and a fluorescent light which is spurred off the house downstairs ring main (RCD protected) .
Looking to rewire with THIS or THIS 2 way c/u in my garage to run a ring main and lighting circuit off.
I thought this would be the best way to do it as all the garage c/u's i've seen for sale have RCD's and as the ring is RCD protected i would not have 2 RCD's in series doing it the way i think.
Does this sound right ?
Thanks in advance for any help / comments
Regards
Stuart

yes but would prefer rcd at garage end, wouldnt run ring in garage radial will suffice, also i assume your running new circuit from c/u otherwise there will be no point in the new garage c/u as it would only be provided with 13a from fcu.

run circ from unprotected way to new rcd c/u or from protected way to standard 2 way c/u

Decided to have a proper look at the garage
The garage is on the other side of the house to the c/u so doing a new circuit isn't going to be that easy as there isn't a simple run for a new cable :(
At present The incoming supply to the garage is connected to the supply terminals in a switched fused spur
There is 2 sockets wired as a radial connected to the supply terminals of the same switched fused spur
And also off the supply terminals a cable running to another switched fused spur controlling 2 outside lights off a photocell
The cable in the Load terminals controls 2 fluorescents inside the garage

The garage needs to have 3 double sockets, 2 lights inside with 2way switching and 2 outside lights off 1 photocell

What would be the best way to do this ?

Any further help would be appreciated

as ezzekiel says, it's best to dissociate the garage from the house circuits, one good reason being that if you get a fault in the garage, it won't trip your house ring main. SWA outside is the easiest, and preferably separate TT earthing and RCD in garage. if i'm wrong, please correct me

setting up a tt is a prefered method used by the "you cant export pme camp" providing there are no services it is not really an issue and has been discussed many times.

if you dont wish to run in a new circuit, then using a fcu as supply is fine although you are limited to the ammount of power available for the garage, if its general use and nothing heavy then it will be fine.

if reading correctly everything from fcu should be fed from the load side.
