Garage Lights

Client wants 2 x fluo's installed in garage

Would like to take supply from DB in house but very difficult to get access to with wood flooring down etc.

Would it be acceptable to extend the upstairs lights by taking a feed from loft (upstairs lighting JB) running SWA from eaves to garage via catenery wire and installing 1 x switch and 2 x lights in garage?

Depends n how many lights are on it already and you would need to RCD protect it

seems like a mad rund for a few lights!!

It dose sound like a weird way of doing it but if that is your only option.

As above work out the flc of the light circuit, if your spur cable is >50mm deep and the rest is surface mounted/swa, no need for rcd but better if it was.

Is there not a nearby socket in the house that you could fit a FCU to and then feed the lights that way

the problem is getting the cable to the garage, there is a gap of about 3 metres and the guy aint wanting his driveway dug up

disc cut a small channel out, run the swa under, then concrete back over. supply from downstairs socket (fcu) as suggested above.

like i said in a previous post the driveway has been relayed and the client is not keen on altering

Why would it require RCD protection?

If there is a socket nearby, can you take the cable up the wall to the cat wire?

i suppose i can take it up wall but just thought the cable would look a lot neater coming straight out of loft onto cat. wire

I had a picture in my head of how it would run-wrong picture but I always RCD anything in outbuildings/garages etc.
