I have fitted new garage csu to supply one strip light and 1 double socket. Supply to garage csu is 4mm swa which runs from the detached garage back to the house and up conduit to the outside meter box.
Problem is that the house is a new build with lovely plastered walls and house csu is high up in downstairs wc approx 2m away from meter box on outside wall.

Can I make a coonection in the meter box to supply garage as I can't get the swa to the csu inside?

I was thinking along similar lines. Terminate the SWA into a box next to the meter cupboard and take a T&E cable from the box through the meter cupboard and up the 2m pipe to the CU...

Thanks for advice.
The tails from meter to csu diappear through appros 20mm hole in back of meter box with no sign of any conduit so assume run up cavity to csu. My first attempt will be to try and pull a 4mm t/e with new easth up the cavity with existing earth. Failing that my next step would have been
Henley block in meter box, being aware DNO won't like, and then new tails to an RCD unit in the meter box protecting cable to garage. Suppose I could try (but not sure how) to get the cable outside the meter box into a weatherproof box. Just more unsightly.

Hi. Old thread resurrection. I have the same problem but with 16mm swa on TT earthing system. Did you use the external meter box in the end? That would be so much easier for me too.

Thanks in advance for anyone's opinion.

Regards, David.

Are we allowed to do this???

Hi,
In the end the easiest option was to use the meter cabinet. So I split tails and fitted RCD unit to connect garage armoured.
All ok with no comeback yet. I know suppler wont like but it made the best sense in the situation.
