Hi guys,

Been asked by a friend to put a socket and 2 lights into his garage this weekend (weather permitting!) and have come up with the following plan:

http://i.Upload the image directly to the thread.com/OcZTT.jpg

All using single core cables enclosed in 20mm PVC Conduit. The garage is fed by a 15m long run of 2.5mm2 SWA (already installed) protected by a 16A MCB on the CU.

As far as I understand the current regs it is accecptable to have a light running off a socket providing that it is protected by a 6a fuse (in this case in the form of an FCU, which also provides control). Can somebody please confirm this to be the case?

Will I require a way of isolating the socket from inside the garage and if so would a seperate FCU be accecptable?

Finally, do I need to get this work signed off by a certified electrician?

Thanks for any assistance given,

Andy

Does the house CU have RCD's? Any particular reason for selecting singles?

I was under the impression that if you are using PVC Conduit then singles need to be used? Would prefer using T&E as its cheaper.

yes you an take lights off a socket using a FCU but the fuse will be a 3 amp why weather permitting doesnt the garage have a roof ??

Just me being a wimp :p. Will make sure to use a 3A fuse tho, thanks.
