Working on a house that has the wiring in the garage chased in the wall and filled. Am I right in thinking the regs now say it has to be surface mounted or in conduit on the surface?

Thanks

Adam..

No it doesnt but if its less than 50mm into the wall it needs RCD protection. However if you aren't working on that circuit it is not your concern unless you can see some glaringly obvious danger which you must bring to the attention of the homeowner. If you are working on it then you will have to make sure that at least the part you are working on is brought up to the current regs etc.

The amount of myths and nonsense and misinterpretation of the regulations which become 'common knowledge' is staggering.......bonding is another favourite for total nonsense spouted....and if I had a quid for every time I hear 'My fuseboard is illegal'....I'd be retired in St Lucia by now.
