Hi all, my first garden light install and would like some advice.

I have had a think and this is what I have come up with.

- Install will originate at an outhouse/shed at the bottom of the garden with its own CU, mains and lighting circuits.

- I have to install an outdoor double socket to the back of the outbuilding/shed which can spur off the mains ring.

- Then I need to install a outdoor switch and run Armoured cable from switch to a small lamp post, then to an up lighter, then to 4 spotlights along a path.

Should I take the power for the lights from the mains circuit of the lighting? Lights have not been purchased yet so I have no details on what spec the lights are.
At this stage I am mainly running the cable before the concrete patio get laid.

I have attached a simple diagram of what I have to do.

Please can you let me know what or if I have missed anything out?

Cheers

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but:
A lot depends upon the CU in the shed (usual preliminary checks on supply & earthing) - and whether circuits are RCD protected (should be).
Check the current capacity of the existing lighting MCB.
Then you will need to know the expected load of the new lighting (spotlights etc. could be quite high) added to lighting already in existence.
Maybe there is space for an additional MCB to take this lighting.
Outdoor socket and switch would need to be to appropriate IP rating.
This would all be subject to Part P & notifiable.

Hope this helps
