:confused:Hi there' can anybody help.

Im going to be feeding a garden lighting circuit from a db that has a main rccb. Would you say that i would need to put in a separate rcbo in for that circuit or would it be covered by the main rccb?(according to 17th)

cheers

If the main switch is 30mA and not time delayed then you dont need to fit another one in line assuming it tests ok

Ok. I see what your saying but what about any outdoor circuits being protected by rcd or similar device??

Yes always advisable for any circuit outside of the equipotential zones to be RCd protected however im just thinking would be better to have the outside circuits protected on their own RCD to avoid disruption rather then to use any other RCD that protects the house circuits (if that is the case)

Unfortunately, when the back extention was built on this house, the builder has run some t+e down to a indoor switch from the kitchen lighting circuit. Then swa away from switch to garden for future garden lighting. So the garden lighting will be on with kitchen circuit. Not sure if i should put a 10amp rcbo. Any ideas

You should advise your customer that the existing arrangement does not meet regulations (314-1 whole installation cant be covered by single RCD or 314-2 a fault on one circuit shouldn't affect another circuit) and if you are looking to just do the smallest alteration without going to the trouble of board change etc then you would need to put in a separate small board and running a new circuit to outside. Be careful as you may need to Part P this work unless the garden lighting is attached to the house and fed from behind.Tread carefully
