I want to install some garden lights on a wooden pergola which is next to a fence. The fence has concrete posts and gravel boards, can anyone advise me on the best way to do this. Also can i clip the SWA to the concrete posts and gravel boards rather than bury the cable.

yes you can clip swa to any suitable permanent structure but be aware this work is notifiable to the labc and will require proper testing and a cert (EIC) before commisioning. LABC charges are very expensive - i would get several quotes from recommended sparks who are part p, before you undertake this yourself, they may well be cheaper when you take building control charges into account.

you can cleat to the gravel boards, but they are usuall quite thin and your drill will probably blow the other side out. a good idea would be to get some 2 x 1 timber, treat it with preserver, mount horizontally , fixed to the posts, then cleat to that.

As littlespark says there's no ways you're going to find spike lights that can accomodate SWA cables directly into them.
