Gardens lights wired in flex

Im think of wiring some garden light which are high up on wooden panels.would you say it has to be in armoured or is it ok as it can be seen and no trees or bushes for it to get accidently chopped. All rcd of course. Any reg against it?

As long as the flex is appropriate for the conditions, then no problems with it. By conditions, i mean length for volt drop, and external influences for temperature and climate etc. There will be other considerations as well, but i cant think of any at the moment.

It depends whether any of the cables will be run along the ground. H07 rubber cables are fine. I tend to feed them from a Wiska box supplied by SWA. That should give you lots of options.......

You're the designer so you need to be confident that what you are proposing for your client meets the regs.

Because out side lights should be on a rcd no?
The run is not going near the floor anywhere its all at around 5foot from floor.

Have a look at regulation 559.10.3.2 and if your lighting falls into any of those listed then yes you should provide additional protection by RCD characteristics to 415.1.1.

If not regardless of being inside or outside a lighting circuit does not require RCd protection, unless it is for other reason associated
