hi all

I am working on a house at the moment and i am having a lot of trouble finding a way to get a 10'' earth from the consumer unit back to the gas main.
would it be possible to wire it back to the earth in the meter box or to the earth rod as they are right beside the the gas main.
i cant find a route for the earth as it is an old house and the fuse board is right at the back and the new gas main is at the front.
any information would be great as it is going to be a real pain in the ---.

No you can't take the bonding cable to the earth rod!!! The main Gas earth bond conductor needs to be run to either an MET or EMT. If the gas bonding location is close or near to the water main bonding position, then you Can connect a link conductor between the two bonding points and have a single bonding conductor (in this case the original water bonding conductor) running back to the MET.

Hells Bells! No wonder your having problems trying to route a 10 inch main bonding conductor. :biggrinjester: That will be to compliment the 25 inch tails know doubt. :biggrinjester:

Am i correct in saying that link must not be broken too. ie, MET to Gas/water onto Gas/Water (either way around) unbroken single bonding conductor

yes must be continuous not sure if crimping both ends on to lugs then bolting together would be allowed but pretty sure butt crimps are ok (through connectors)
