Generation meter positioning ?

Hi
where is the best position to put the generation meter
1. Next to the main metering supply. Or
2. In the garage by the inverter

The inverter is about 15 meters away, from the mains point

Without digging out all the guides, the condition you have to meet is that it is convenient to read. Probably the most important consideration is to put it where the customer wants it.

Be aware that if you have a long run to the garage then the lifetime cost of putting it in the house rather than the garge will be significant.
