Hi
I im 32 now and did my electrical training for 5 years in a huge private school!
During that time i worked along the electrical supervisor and we did all types of electrical work from maintenance, testing and fault finding and installation work During the school holidays!
All the installation work was pretty much the same for every classroom so in the end i could pretty much do it blindfolded. It was a good place to learn about electrics as i had all the time in the world to figure out wiring faults, and also do lots of testing with my supervisor who was a complete perfectionist and new the regs book upside down!
I did 2 nights a week at college for 3 years and got my 2330 level 3 and have just recently finished my nvq 3. After a big turn around my supervisor left due to big cutbacks in the school and not long after i was made redundant.
I have done bits and pieces for friends etc but due to ill health i have been out of work for a while and lost my confidence with it.
As the work i did in the school was so particular to its enviroment i got moulded by it.I know im lacking confidence but just concerned how i would go about getting a electrical job thats different to what i,ve been doing and how to adjust!

It's a trifle hard to deduce what advice you are looking for based on one post, but i would recommend getting confident.Do this by whatever means you think may work.Read, assist someone, for free if needed, get religion or hypnosis but GET confident. THEN,and only then,go out and apply for the positions you feel suitable and you will be able to tell employers what they need to hear. Imagine you were meeting the surgeon who was about to operate on your swollen nads,he makes no eye contact, stutters and stares at his shoes....Feel like employing him? The real world employment scenarios are much the same. Hope it helps, good luck fella.
