Hi all,
Since I bought a soldering iron to fix my drill charger I've been wanting to get into electronics. Just as a hobby it comes in handy for fixing stuff I suppose... Wants the best way to learn this? Does anyone have any online materials they've found useful? Anything you can post up and teach me and anyone else looking.
Been disecting broken electronics.
I have a basic knowledge and awareness of electronic components and dc supplies(do saw waves and square waves count as dc?)

Thanks for your responses

I used to be interested in electronics and then they brought out these IC chippys and took all the fun out of it.

Now all you get is a mass of resistors and the odd capacitor and if you are lucky a transistor surrounding an unidentifiable black slab!

Electronics is now often a case of being able to identify the chip that has failed.
Since you already have the basic understanding of electrical circuits, you then need to be able to apply this to the micro scale operations used, however there tends to be a lot less precise switching; as you get less on and off and more if this level of voltage is up to a point then allow a greater current flow elsewhere.

In general direct current should remain with the same polarity throughout, so saw waves and square waves are a form of an alternating current, just not a sine wave.

Start with simple control circuits and an awareness of the range of ICs that are available and build up knowledge of how they can be joined to interact with each other and with output devices.

I think I remember that there are quite a few basic electronics websites out there often with example circuits to build and modify.
