OK, doing a small fix for an elderly couple on my way home today and needed the access the loft space above the kitchen.

So I tried to push the loft hatch upwards and it was being prevented from moving directly upwards, so I had to very carefully slide it away - and wondering what was the issue I looked up........

What idiot put those there????

Agreed. I'd put money on that loft hatch having been extended. Prior to which those cables would have run past the end as they do on a lot of properties.

Me too....I think the Homeowner is responsible and prefered to keep quiet rather than look a muppet.

Hope you derated them due to bunching :)

Btw, I agree with those who suggest this was done post-electrician....

Homeowner: But there are loads of cables in the way!

Builder: No worries mate, we'll just tie em up outta the way.

Well if it has been extended, the artexing has been either done later or touched up as the finger line finish around the edge doesn't look to be cut short at an original hatch size .... a little difficult to tell due to the flaring. Thought you were talking about the cables not the rafter!
