I have been working as a Electrician since 1997,I have been self employed for the past 4 years and am going reasonable well despite the credit crunch.

I have been thinking a lot lately though about my future,I am getting married in September and will hopefully start a family soon after.

I'm not sure if I want the pressure of trying to get money off people for work I have done or indeed the pressure of looking for work if I am to have a family,so I was thinking of going back to college at nights and get some other qualifications under my belt and maybe get out of the Electrical Contracting business in a few years.

My problem is though I'm not sure what course I should do,I was thinking it should be something in the Electronics/Engineering field but I'm not even sure what course I should be looking for.

Just wondered if anyone has done something similar and has gone back to college?
I dunno maybe its too late and I should have done it a few years ago,I'm 32 btw..

Yeah it's easy enough to get into uni now as a mature student as this generally bypasses the need for ucas points. I'd suggest going down the degree route.

cert ed in post 16 education although you would need to find somewhere to give you teaching hours to get on it. if you wanted to teach science based courses there are massive government handouts for people prepared to do so. think it was about five grand.
