hi i am currently employed as an approved electrician,but i am thinking about starting up a business who specialise in pat testing,thought i could fit this in during evenings and weekends and then see how is goes,im looking for any advice on getting clients starting up pat testing(charging per test) thank you????????????????

What market research have you done in your area? What are other people charging? How many competitors would you have?

In the current climate I'd stay employed as long as you can, however if your employment contract does not exclude working for yourself, out of hours, you could have a go on a part time basis.

Make sure you do your sums re starting up, tools, advertising, insurance etc so you know how much you'll be spending or you could end up in debt which you didn't have before you started.
