I think I'm losing my short term memory. It doesn't happen very often but I was given a very large amount of cash the other day as a job deposit. I didn't want to carry that amount of cash money around so I took a detour past my house and stashed it in my home office. This evening I finally have time to count it with a view to banking it tomorrow but I could hell remember where I'd put it. It's not like my office is a big place but it is pretty messy, it's just took me over an hour to find it :( Is it possible to go senile in your mid-forties?

Oh yes...... I know someone who will vouch for that!!!

Listen, i do that all the time! I stash money or something important and i put it away in such a hidden place i can never for the life of me remember where the hell i put the thing. Usually come across it by accident in the end!

You're not alone Marvo, I'm only 39 and my memory is apalling. If my boss asks me to get more than three things from the wholesalers I have to write it down; and at home I've lost count of the number of times I have got up from the settee in the evening and gone to the kitchen, then stood there for a bit wondering what I went for. I'm sure I'm getting early-onset alzheimers.

Oddly, all the stuff I learn at college seems to stay there, to the extent that people ask me what page so-and-so is on in the regs, and I tell them 'right hand page 56, bottom half', and last year someone thought I cheated on a test because I wrote a sentence that was word-perfect out of the regs. Not exactly difficult for one sentence!

Not the only one, had a travellers cheque left over from a holiday put it safe somewhere and still can't find it.

Think they are valid for 6 years or something......

I have known people to hide money and find it again about 10 years later when the banknotes have gone out of circulation and need sending away......or worse to hide money in the pages of books then give them into a charity shop after reading....

It's kinda comforting to see I'm not alone. Thankfully it's not a regular problem but even when it happens occasionally it's absolutely infuriating. It's always short term memory that's the problem, usually around the two or three day ago mark.

Stress does that to you, you have to make a point of remembering what you do or you are just on auto pilot. The greater the stress the more I forget.
