Doody has been working with me today for a bit of experience, good day, I enjoyed letting you do all the work and me messing about lol. Wont be like that tomorrow btw, the brown smelly stuff has hit the fan on a job so we are going to sort it out.

The good news:-

1, Have an extra half hour in bed tomorrow, job is starting later than planned (out of my hands btw)

2, You will be doing a first fix on a house new build, which is always nice and easy

3, Tomorrow we will be working alongside 2 of my mates that are both qualified electrical tutors so ask any questions you want to.

4, YOU'VE GOT A JOB STARTING THE WEEK AFTER NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thread the other day offering a job that you PM-ed, I've spoken to the OP (opening poster) yesterday and just now. Told him about you, how you worked, your approach to the job in hand, your work attitude etc etc etc.... He has taken me on my word only that you are the correct person for the job and he is more than willing to teach you everything you need know and build you up. Great opportunity that thousands of people like yourself would love to get. You have the job mate, we will give him a call tomorrow and sort out the details. We spoke about wages today Doody, it is higher than what you mentioned, lets just put it that way

good to see a trainee getting a start on his way. and good on you, paul, for the help you are giving.

A very good start, the OP is a very nice man by the sounds of it, busy and willing to help out others. I'll have to meet him for a pint some time. I've got a very good feeling about this. Already sorted out what I think should be a "minimum" wage, transport/getting picked up, PPE and work wear, helping him with tools. The rest I will sort out tomorrow on the phone with the OP.

Thanks for the praise Tel, I'm only a bridge in between two people on this one, just making sure that Doody is not taken advantage of.

Yeah it was a good easy friday putting up some back boxes ... No back breaking work got to know Paul a bit better and he even got me some VDE screwdrivers (Rather than stealing my mams from her tool box  it was only good for bashing in the grommet holes  ) and a spirit level :D and got me a job and a bacon butty too!
Thanks for the opportunity to work with you today and tomorrow it was loads of fun and for the good word you've put in for me
See you tomorrow, "Paul big ********"

Yep I signed the wholesalers account sheet today as "Paul Big Bollox" lol

Told the female customer that it is fine walking around her own house naked if she wants!

Also said to her that in the 15 years of being a sparky, I have only had 2 deaths and 3 electrical house fires!!!

When the builder asked me what his 10 year old boy wanted for Christmas, I said "What, a new Dad!!!"

Today was a good laugh and it was your interview for your new job Doody, you've passed. The OP left it to me to decide btw. You will speak with him tomorrow and sort out the details with me by your side. You impressed me, simple as that.

Well done, you have a job as an electricians labourer/mate on the books PAYE with someone that will teach you. Merry Christmas.

Grab this job with both hands doody not many opportunities around like this. I could do with something like this in the Manchester area. Good on that man Paul M for helping out again.
You what? I know how many... How little opportunities there is in regards for apprentices around my area I'll be sure to give 100% don't you worry :D and Paul is a god send

All confirmed, Doody starts a week on Wednesday. He now has some new work pants and knee pads as a part payment for todays work. He also got handed his comp prize lol. Working with me again next week for a couple of days but I dont know what on yet? Got 5 different jobs that need doing and a few men to do them, who to place on what job and what jobs need doing first will be worked out tomorrow. Think you will be helping with the new 3Ph board and sun beds on Wednesday mate, lets see how next week pans out???

Without sounding condescending, You have done good these past two days Michael. You are what people like me need in a trainee. Worthy of a forum pat on the back. Keep doing what your doing and trust me when I say, "You will become a great Electrician", I can see it in you. See you Wednesday.

Work with you two days and you've pretty much got me all set up with tools and equipment also fed and watered... Could get used to this ;)
had a quick skim through it actually got some great bits on testing, basic stuff and regs and sounds good something new and different can't wait to get let loose on them mwahaha
thanks for the kind words :) and for all the help and for putting up with me letting me work with you :p haha appreciate it. See you Wednesday.

Also the minimum distance between a gas pipe and cable is 25mm
and for joists the max diameter hole is 0.25 x the depth of the joist and the distance from the edge of the joist is 0.25 x the span of the joist and adjacent holes must be 100mm apart. Google is my friend :) not 100% sure if that's correct though

Ps. Important message to the trainees:
ner ner I have my prize and you don't. Ha ha ha.
