Google Search anomolies...

Evening folks....

Any Google Boolean search experts on here.....One of my biggest gripes when searching for information is Google bringing up results that are years out of date....was trying to get some info on passiv systems earlier which I keep coming up against via major pv company.

So wanted to do a bit of research. Went onto Google. Ran search on "Review Passiv Systems" Found a review on Which. Read it. And when I got to the last paragraph it said "An update to the product is due out in July 2010"....now no where on the Which page could I find any reference to the actual date of the review.

Happens a lot this. Also trying to get reviews of the various pv monitoring systems....and keep getting old ones...

use '2012' in the search term as well, or go to advanced search and ask for results newer than 2012

Thats the way I do it. Just a pity I have to scroll down to the bottom of 1st page these days for the Advanced Search link.

It would be nice to set Goggle to limit searches to, say, the last 6 months.

Google site rankings are always higher for sites that regularly update their content unless they are sponsored links. You can use general search operators to better define your search. I'm sure you're aware of the basic operators and signs such as the plus sign, minus sign and inverted commas etc. There's some very handy advanced operators as well that are worth getting familiar with.

I sometimes use the 'News' option to find decent links to recent items. It's default is to look for pages that are less than 30 days old or you can use the Advanced News Search - Google News
