you could not write some of the calls i have had in the past, no one would believe them too far fetched to share. there are certainly some strange mixed up people out there. what exactly is he going to report you for?? being an electrician. what a rodney

I get tons of work from the older generation, usually passed on from the younger end. The older people will call to fit a new outside light. The young ones will fit themselves, then call call when the trip/fuse keeps blowing -;)

I had one myself today from a customer who's kitchen I re-wired along with consumer unit upgrade. Took me 4 weeks to get paid after a bounced cheque.
Several weeks ago she rang me (after I'd done the first job). Single sockets throughout the rest of the house, can I change them to doubles and fit chrome? Yes, I said, ÂŁ20 a socket (including volex chrome socket and backboxes), on condition of immediate cash on completion. HOW MUCH??? she says, no thanks my husband will do it!
Anyway, today she rings me, 'YOUR new fusebox is tripping out my NEW sockets'
sigh... what new sockets? the ones I installed?
no the house ones, I found someone much cheaper than you, ÂŁ2.50 a socket!! He says its your fusebox
'ÂŁ2.50?' I said, 'is he a registered electrician? do you have a cert?'
No, I have an invoice and I know that hes registered
How?
Because he told me!
Oh well it must be true then, I'll come out but if its not my work at fault, then its a ÂŁ45 call out, plus ÂŁ25 per hour, plus materials, that ok?
I'll get back to you

I think that'll be one monkey off my back!

ÂŁ2.50 to fit a db skt it`s no wonder some of the trade is quiet when there are idiots doing it for the price of a pint. serves them right the tight sods. 20 quid including skt and box was more than cheap enough
