im no expert im still in training lol

but ill make a guess

fualty appliance maybe maybe the fridge/freezer when the compreesor kicks in possibly an outside flood light or a cable not installed correctly so when someone walks over the floor its putting pressure on the cable and cuasing a fualt i guess theres many reason this could be

Needles in haystacks spring to mind here. Can you post a bit more info. Make/rating of RCD, Location of board installation cellar/garage or wherever. Type of circuit, and loading...i.e is it a ring or a radial what appliances are plugged in, are there any FCU,s, and what work and testing have you done so far. If you can provide answers to some or all of these you will get a lot of info on here and probably the answer to your problem.

So you have one RCD protecting sockets, lighting, cooker, shower etc etc???

Sorry, just trying to get a "feel" of the situation, how do you know it's definately the sockets that are causing the RCD to trip???

Sounds like an intermittent short somewhere i.e L-E or N-E, an insulation resistance test is the place to start.:)

yea protecting it all when u reset thr breakers the sockets is the only one that trips the rcd so it defo the ring doing it thats what i think its got to be a short somewere but home come it stays on for a day or a few hours then trips??

Maybe its a timer circuit spurred off the ring such as central heating etc and it depends when its reset and operational as to how long it lasts before it cuts in and trips the rcd. As said tests are required.
Hope you get it sorted.
Regards
Kung.
