the esc have grants available for electrical work for vulnerable people. here just a thought for if anyone visits say an old couple that you know could not afford to pay for the minor works for bonding urgent minor works etc.
In response to your enquiry;
Over the past three years the ESC has run its own electrical safety grants scheme which awarded grants totaling c. £250,000. The grants were awarded to a limited number of homeowners, who were over 60 years old, on means tested benefit and who could not afford to restore the electrical installation in their home to a safe standard.
In 2009 the ESC put its current grants scheme on hold pending a review and started to explore other ways that it could award grants with a view to helping more people in need throughout the UK.
We are now researching the effectiveness of working in support of like minded organisations by providing funding to pilot electrical safety improvement grant schemes across the UK.
Unfortunately this means that we are not accepting applications for grants directly. However, you may wish to contact your local home improvement agency who will be able to advise you if funding from other organisations may be available. To find your local agency log on to http://www.foundations.uk.com/default.aspx?id=503
The information that you have identified on our website is dated 1 October 2007 and is therefore an outdated news release.
