I heard a rumor that the FITS may be part of the golden rule with the green deal

so if you have solar panels fitted via the green deal you can claim fits ?

is this true?

I've lost track of the number of times I've asked DECC the same question - and got no answer at all.

The FiTs legislation only prevents a system from being eligible for FiTs if a 'grant' from public funds is involved. I can't see that a GD loan comes under that. I must admit I haven't had time recently to trawl through the GD legal stuff to see what that says. It will be a question of whether FiT income counts as 'energy saving' and I would suspect that it shouldn't.

But even if PV isn't actually cheap enough yet to meet the golden rule in full there is nothing to prevent someone from topping up a GD loan with additional funds from another source - if this doesn't remove the FiTs income.

GD funded system should be eligible for FITs, but the FITs shouldn't count towards the actual energy savings to be used for golden rule calculations.

as I understand it.

Finaly got access to the GDSAP software and check this out below

ImprovementsEstimated costs*Your household's estimated annual savingsTypical annual savings - maximum Green Deal repayment in year 1**
Insulate hot water cylinder with 80 mm jacketÂŁ15 - ÂŁ30ÂŁ93ÂŁ92
Low energy lighting for all fixed outletsÂŁ55ÂŁ38ÂŁ36
Solar water heatingÂŁ4,000 - ÂŁ6,000ÂŁ39ÂŁ36
Solar photovoltaic panels - 2.5 kWpÂŁ9,000 - ÂŁ14,000ÂŁ99ÂŁ99
TotalÂŁ13,070 - ÂŁ20,030ÂŁ269ÂŁ263

so the 2.5 kwp system at 9k saving ÂŁ99 per year would take 90 years to pay back it self . ??????

So stuff your renewables and go for the energy saving bits...

What did it come up with for a condensing boiler, loft insulation, cavity wall and / or EWI? I'll bet they score better as well, - being a cynic (sometimes..) maybe there is coomerical pressure from some of the large industry bodies to make some items seem better than others. Don't remember EVER installing PV at ÂŁ5,600 / kWp !!!
