Guys,
we are taking the plunge and going for green deal accreditation pas 2030, I understand its a paperwork excersise through our niceic membership including PV. therefore we need to marry the new technologies into our QMS.

however we are going to add on additional technologies the question im trying to understand is heating controls.

Can any one enlighten me.

Thanks

Wiggly

they're used to control people's heating systems.

hope this helps;)

erm no seriously, what specifically is it you're wanting to know, we're not PAS whatever, but have replaced a few heating control systems. My main conclusion to this is that it's a nightmare as customers don't understand the knew heating controls, and / or they're not easily compatible with the existing bodged heating set up so you're basically opening a tin of worms when you make what seems like a minor alteration.

Gavin, Exactly had me chuckling,
This is the problem trying to understand where there coming from, We can obviously wire in controls and thermostats we average forty of these jobs a week, We have just become Gas Safe registerd so can easily show an install, But heating controls??? bog standard or are the taking more complex such as passive systems product. If any one can assist that would be great.

Any info on what to watch out for during assesment/ changes to qms would also be greatly appreciated. (saves a few hundred quid if i can do it myself purchased the pas2030 doc 95 quid for a PDF)

regards
Colin

This kind of adds to part of my post in the other GD thread, heating systems can be very complex, go and add an outside temperature control so it makes the customers heating system more efficient and then the customer complains that they have sat there in the cold for 3 days.

I am sure the OP won't, but many will jump on the "band wagon" to make an earn, sadly at the detriment to the customer.
Would you take a Ferrari to a cycle shop for a service just because they say they can get funding for it?

Earthstore you are correct,
we are really wanting to cover as many of the steps that naturally fits our skill sets, But the amount of controls and retrofit controls are pretty mental, All electrical, however heating controls according to our NICEIC guy come under a different box and we need to have sign off on that. All other measures including PV are takin Care of under our accreditations already site vist to go through our QMS.
then green deal approved.

Heating controls is either statts controlling underfloor heating or SPlan Yplan etc whichever install you show your assessor for the pas2030

wiggly, Green Deal Heating Controls covers TRVs, Programmers, Room Thermostats, and Cylinder Thermostats. This is the list from Annex C of PAS 2030 (at least in the old copy I have of it).

ted,
So for our sign off we need to show them an installed central heating boiler and bog standard controls as our addition measures and that is it.
Pretty mental additional half day required for sign off extra money for stuff we do day in day out lol .
also you should be able to have a free upgrade for your pas2030 doc if your not uptodate.
thanks
wiggly
