ECO is on hold as there is no legislation and, consequently, no guidance from OFGEM. Greg is too busy on a jolly to Africa to bother with these minor details.

It's like THE INSTALLER magazine (spreader) says, it's up to us, the people in the industry, to promote it. I'd like to think I have a reasonable inbuilt fact detector, but I don't think I have come across one hard fact about the green deal yet from reading any of these industry publications. Anybody remember the story of The Emperors New Clothes???

he could have used all the savings from the FIT drops to advertise it on the tv, or i wonder if the energy suppliers are advertising it on there advertisments

MEP like the rebranding I hope it pays off not just for your sake but everyone's.

I'm on the fence with the green deal, we've got the expertise and man power but a little coy, once bitten twice shy. Although the whole green agenda isn't going anywhere, if politicians pick it up to use it to there own ends the facts are that climate is changing needs addressing on top of our own (uk) energy security.

Might be an idea to find out what labours plans are for going green so if they get in you know they won't get rid of it
(shouldn't have to take an interest in politics to earn a living) Ffs

As long Ed is in charge they wont get in - but if David comes to the front then its time to look what there policy's are.

Agree, the bloke hasn't got a commanding voice , haven't they learnt anything from America Barack is a great speaker, inspirational speeches which evoke everything Ed's don't.

just spoken to a dea commercial guy he said his mate did the GDA it was a sales pitch just selling the GD for the goverment he said hes staying away from it as its floored and only the big boys like BG B&q,etc will get the money from it as its all inhouse.
im on the fence again ffs

I watched the youtube ad on the DECC all suits, which screams big boys club. The fact that some of our housing stock would be better off being demolished than retro fitted (1960 - 70's pre fab).

Sounds familia ?

A Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) spokesman said jobs in the industry would increase in the long term, up from 26,000 in 2012 to around 60,000 in 2015."We regret any job losses, but the Green Deal offers a bright future for the insulation industry following an initial period of transition," he said.
"Looking at the whole picture, there will actually be more jobs in the insulation sector under Green Deal and the ECO than there are now."
that about sums decc up doesn't it.

It doesn't matter how many people have to be made redundant now, as the industry will be employing more people again in a couple of years time... meanwhile, the industry will lose half its trained workforce (at vast expense to both the industry and the people losing their jobs), and have to train new staff up from scratch in a couple of years time IF the governments green deal plans work out. For the amount they'd save on extrabenefits for all those losing their jobs they may as well just set up some sort of a bridging fund to keep them all employed for the next year or so until Green Deal actually starts... but that'd be far too like joined up thinking for DECC.

TrustMark has issued an urgent warning of the high risk of rogue traders cashing in on the Green Deal – the government-backed energy efficiency improvement scheme, which the Secretary of State described as “the most ambitious home improvement programme since the Second World War”.

Well there's a suprise!

Anyone who's a rogue will want the upgrade to Green rogue :)

I always predicted race to the bottom on costs -apart from the bankers of course, nice fat gauranteed profits for them

We knew about how insulation would be badly hit 4 - 5 months ago - hence the massive BG and other radio and telephone campaigns -from the sound of the radio ads they seem to be running untill the end of Novmber on the existing scheme. I guess it will cary on for a while if the energy companies haven't hit their target required spend in those areas.
