Aurora had a few problems with pressed a couple of years ago they all buckled after time ( we ended up replacing 350 of them )

Twist lock cast fittings are the best IMO, no lost springs and far easier to replace lamps. Would also go for ELV instead of mains as lamp life is far better. Halers Evoleds are a good shout too but can be a hard sell at times when people see the price for the initial outlay.

Just installed some of Ansell's new Icage, with Saxby 11 or 13w 4000k lamps, best I've installed yet! Fantastic colour temp for kitchens and bathrooms!

Got a few examples to show the customer (better for him to make the decision, then for me to get it wrong!). We decided on aluminium fittings in the end (made a few up with fly leads), with 11w low energy GU10 fluorescent lamps.

Quite nice looking, and customer was delighted with them!

JCC had similar problems with thier Cast stuff, but they refused to replace them! Changed them to aurora, been using thier twist & lock range for a few years now, no problems. I agree that LV is far better than GU10.

Jcc, imo probably one of the worst brand of downlights out there! I've also had quite a few 11w Aurora cfl's fail too! Not many failures with Saxby/selectric lamps...
