Hi.
I installed some GU10 LEDs for a customer's kitchen approx a year ago and have had about 4 failures at varying points in the year. Having not being able to establish a cause, I replaced them with CFLs and 2 of these have now failed as well, after just a couple of months. The customer seems to think that it has been the same 2 fittings each time, which I don't have any reason to doubt.

Could the downlighter fitting be the culprit? Or is there another likely cause?

The fittings are a decent quality and I've installed loads of them (Click Flameguard professional cast).

Any thoughts?

Cheers...

If it's the same fittings that are problematic you could try replacing the ceramic lamp holder, maybe there's a poor contact on them. Also maybe remake any wiring terminations on those unreliable fittings.

I'm not sure on the environmental implications, a good quality integrated fitting will last many years and be more energy efficient than the GU10...
