Recessed downlights generally (as far as I am aware) come with a suction cup for GU10 lamp insertion/removal. Does anyone know where you can get these suction cups, or a better tool for lamp insertion/removal? Am asking because customer has mislaid his suction cup and lamps are VERY tight in the holder. Unable to shift by applying pressure with fingers. Had to dismantle the entire lampholder to get the bulb out of one and lots of others are yet to be changed.

Well I never. Thanks Sintra, it never occurred to me to look for a website that specialises in suction cups. I wonder if there is money to be made in that line of business? There must be at ÂŁ2 each plus delivery for those things. In the meantime I have contacted B&Q "Dear Sirs, I have mislaid...any chance of a free replacement?". Well, it's worth a punt isn't it?
I found a reference online to some kind of mechanical lamp-edge gripper. Anyone know anything about that?

agree with wp here. the suction cups you get with some fittings are completely useless. the only sensible idea i have seen is lamps with little finger bumps on the edges. other than that, strip the fitting. the blu-tac idea is better than the suckers. better still fit LED lamps, then you'll only have to replace them every 50,000 hours.

Blu-tack worked a treat. Immediate success after an hour or trying everything else. Brilliant !
uselul to find agood tip that's got whiskers on it. 10 year+ thread.
