Hi,

can anyone help me with this please? Is it OK to install GU10 230v IP65 Flush down lights in a pool area. The ceiling is 2.4m above the pool water level. There are wall lights and underwater lights going in, but the transformer will be located outside the zone. would i also have to fit a transformer outside the zone to supply the downlights as well?
Cheers

I mean to reduce the voltage to 12v and use MR16 lamps instead of GU10. I may be wrong, but my understanding was that you cant have 230 within the pool area, hence the need to use the 12v lighting. Sorry shouldve been more specific on that.

I'd still be inclined to use an LED set up, nothing about 12v halogen is safe in my opinion

I am going to use LED's either 12v or 230v. My thinking was that the electrical connection would be outside of the zone 1 as it is in the fabric of the building. what i mean is if the lights were surface mounted then the electrical connections (terminals) would be in the zone, but with down lights they're going to be inside the ceiling.

If I use a transformer and it is inside the ceiling is that OK? or do I need to have the transformer in a seperate room, then quite definately outside the Zone 1. And if it is OK to have the transformer in the ceiling why not have a GU10 lamp using LED's, the lamp itself, which is likely to be in the zone, is at ELV.

Just wanted some thoughts as in all probability ill use 12v LEDs with the transformer in the garage (outside even zone 2).
