hio lads, would like to know if any of you have had to fit downlights in old ceilings(farmhouse)the ceiling consists of old horse hair ? plaster with a straw top !!!!!!! obviously i am worried about heat,i have tried to tell client they need new boarded ceilings but dont have the money,Do i tell them no and walk away(i am rewiring whole house)or could i fit gu10s with LED lamps or CFL lamps ??????? any input would be great thanks.:dozey:

I have come across this afew times, even with the LED GU10 agreat deal of heat is generated. The straw is tinder dry and would strongly advise you customer to look at other lighting options. I have looked at ever type of GU10 lighting even the so called cool lights and the still get to hot for an environment which is tinder dry. They are asking for a fire.
