Hi there,

Does anyone have a PDF of Guidance Note 3. Don't know what I have done with mine and need it for Saturday. Don't want to buy another copy, mine will turn up as soon as I do as usual.

Cheers

More trading in copyright material it seems.
Why does the forum allow this to go on?

Legitimate companies & tradesmen have to purchase this information, the same people who complain about being undercut by others.
Not surprising when there is an illegal trade in copyright material going on it seems, that makes it easy for legitimate people to be undercut.

Not really a copywrite infringemant if the people already have the publication.
I started copying mine some time ago, so that I could have it in electronic format on my PC.
As it fell apart as soon as I looked at it, it was no problem getting it into my scanner.
But then I got bored, so only scanned in about a third of it.

Totally agree with spinlondon, this will be the third copy I've bought. My last one got destroyed - I wanted to check something for an upcoming job so just wanted the electronic version to enable me to work whilst I waited for the new one to be ordered into my local book store. - pretty sure I've more than paid to use a fake copy for a week whilst waiting for a real one.

quite agree, and no doubt you speak the truth .

BUT

the point is, how would anyone know?

For example I could post " can I have a copy of all GNs as they were stolen". Its made up of course. You see the predicament.

By the way I am a retired tree surgeon in Portugal. No Im not Im 12, and at school.

Forums are tricky places

if BS7671 was made into a statutory requirement ( which it already is in everything but name ), instead of hiding under the HASAWA, the government would have to provide the bgb free of charge. maybe the iet could still sell the guidance notes in the same way a lawyer sells their expertise of the law, but my point is i think having pay for BS7671 is a con.

Its a con paying for them every 3 years!!!!!!

Dear Spartykus,

I do see you're point - there should be some kind of system in place whereby once you have purchased a copy of these books you can register so as to download electronic copies of the issue you bought at any time you require. that way when someone finds themself in my position i.e. up s**t creek without a paddle they can still resume normal works instead of having to rush around trying to find a new copy.

I like that idea.
All informative hardback material should be supplied with a personal 'read only' CDROM.
When you see the cost of BSI materials its really is only commercially available to large institutions and businesses.

As far as making the BS7671 statutory then you'd probably find the price would double......

But there is a system - The IET sell electronic copies of the documents. You can buy these instead of the paper versions. I think they even do 'packages/bundles'. If you are an IET member you even get them at a discount.
