[ElectriciansForums.net] Hard hats

i got the good the bad and the ugly on mine. switch round with only fools and horses and star wars.

As per the usual nowadays most sites insist on hardhats
Some of the blokes wear bump caps, in the factory and on less safety conscious jobs

They aren't too bad in the winter but very sweaty in hotter weather,
I actually prefer a hardhat to them in summer,
plus on installs the bump caps aren't really suitable for the job, as there's steel framework and heavy objects being shifted about!
We can end up wearing them for 14+hrs a day which after a bit the caps are minging! whereas a hardhat is easier to keep clean

Hardest Helmet In The World

"*After having a 10kg Brick fall on me from 3 meters , i thought
"Sure that has probably broken my helmet!?"
However i was wrong! The helmet sat, unphased by the brick while i suffered a broken neck and my spinal chord is long gone due to the pressure of the fall.
None the less, fantastic piece of kit. 5 out of 5*"

he shouls have been wearing one of these instead. unlike a hard hat, it would have absorbed the kinetic energy of the brick and saved him from spinal damage.

Seems to me, they're all uncomfortable, and sweaty if you're working hard, so I won't throw money at them.

The only way most PPE will develop is if managers and guvnors get a sustained taste of what's it like to graft hard having to wear it all day. Meeeow ! LOL
