Can anyone give me some guidance please, I have just installed a new ccu in a customers property. Some cables are the old black\red and some the new blue\brown. I have been advised by a colleague that all colours need to be harmonised, including all existing cables in switches, ceiling roses and sockets.

I just need to know if this is correct or if he's just trying to get me to do some extra work!

Thanks.

he's talking bull. all new work has to be in brown/blue, but existing red/black stays as long as it will last. a label should be fixed to the CU stating that the installation is wired to 2 different colours.

Yes agree, put it another way say you changed a dist' board in a factory ... do you honestly believe they would accept a quote that added 2weeks to colour code the existing ???, labour wise not too bad in domestic but wont be long before someone undercuts you on price.

He didn't want me to replace the wiring, just go round sleeving it. Didn't fancy that at all.....
