Has anyone done SELECT's design and verification course? Scotland?

SQA Tailored Award in the Design & Verification of Electrical Installations BS7671: 2

My boss likes the look of this and i'm the test monkey for trying it out. Has anyone completed it? I'm of the understanding its only 2 days and then an exam a couple of weeks later??

If anyone could give me any info, or any guidance to areas to study 'pre-course', i'd be very grateful.

managed to get hold of one of the tutors, its mainly based around design (cable sizing etc), and a refresher on inspection and testing.

next question...can anyone suggest any good books for studying on said subjects (apart from OSG and Regs!!). Practice makes perfect and all that, and at over £600 a shot, its really not something i want to fail...

its a well watered down 2391-20 I did it a few years ago many companies dont recognise it as its not City n Guilds

My boss is pushing me towards it as it was recommended by the SJIB for helping gain my techs card. I'm a little worried of struggling with it as i am going in almost blind to its proper content.

I also want to do the 2391-10 + 20, just a case of negotiating time off to complete these. Which my boss doesnt want to give me.

His attitude (might be sound harsher than its meant as he's been really good about it all so far), is the SELECT course is a few days at £600, and the other 2 courses are £600 each for months each, ultimately giving me the same end result of gaining the tech card. Not sure what is best.

(i do know what is best, doing the 2 courses i want to do, i meant, not sure whats the best way to approach it all).
