Just opted in to the registered electrician thing too - and paid £12 for a shiny new card with registered electrician on it. . Does this mean I can now trick Joe public into thinking I'm registered with the scams?

You only would need to join one of the C.P. Schemes if you are doing work that is under the Part P of building regulations.

i tried to register my gold card, but they rejected it, said they want JIB, not Amex.

I logged into MyEcs and it had a tab I could click to register and pay £12 for the new card.

The £12 pound was for a renewal card as well.
Mine runs out August next year so I can wait.

Wonder if they give you a window to achieve the 18th edition as when I registered my card you do need to hold the up to date version of bs 7671

I registered my interest with jib a while ago for this. Not heard owt since though.

Just checked and I'm entitled...another money spinner me thinks but hey you've got to do it

Says I can add ‘registered electrician’ to my normal card at no extra cost.
