Has this consumer unit been installed correctly?

Hello,

Had a sparky install a new consumer unit, has it been done correctly. Bare in mind the chap cut corners on other bits of work he was contracted to do.

Mine aren't as neat as some of the ones members post up in here but I do make some effort.

But if they looked like this one I'd sack myself and find something to do that I was good at.

That would never pass the 'finger' test.
There is a reason for the insulating strip covering the bottom buss bar

My apprentices would do a better looking, better functioning and tested installation than that. It's really not up to snuff. Dangerous? Not by glancing at it but it certainly needs to be tested and certified. If the installer is a hopeful amateur then you won't be able to have confidence that his knowledge of conductor routing, rating factors, cable selection, cable sizing, protective device selection etc etc is correct. It's why it takes a long time to make a good sparks.

theyre ok, especially if space is tight but only for 6A / lighting ccts though.. not power.

We tried a different board this week, branded 'Fusebox',I thought it was ok and my 19 year old son did this one, his first RCBO board, not quite up to old dads neatness but a good effort I think - never as easy to achieve a really tidy result when re-connecting rather than 1st time on brand new cables.

Ah yes, well that was to stop the f....ing grommet strip from constantly falling off, needed a bit of an overlap front and back to keep it in place. But apart from that,thanks mate.

We used to get a non-compliance on an assessment for too much of the back being removed.

it's never easy to get a board with existing cables neat. that board is a bloody good effort for anyone, let alone a 19 year old.

Use some super glue on the grommet strip, the day before.

Done a board swap for my nephew last week.
Was disappointed when I seen he had bought proteus/m2 but I was pleasantly surprised with the product..
The case is not as good as Hager or Wylex but the terminations are good, I prefer the fork style busbar
