Hi, this is my first post on here but I have viewed the board in the past and find it very informative, I hope you can help me ? Ive just finished my 2330 level 3 and am NOT working in the electrical industry as of yet. My plan was to find work as a mate and complete my NVQ Level 3. Am I right in thinking that I have just wasted 2 years of my life as the 2330 are no longer relevant and will not count towards the NVQ L3 . I understand that the new 2357 is coming in and as of dec 2010 the current NVQ will no longer be available to do, in which case what was the point in doing the 2330 levels 2 and 3 if they cant/dont count towards anything ?

Will I still be able to do the NVQ level 3 or will my 2330 level 2 and 3 count towards the new 2357 ? Im abit confused and worried that all my hard work over the last 2 years has been for nothing ? ?

As long as you get yourself registered for the NVQ before (I think) December, you'll be fine. As for the changeover, I think there will be something in place to let those with 2330 completed the NVQ side of the 2357 - I can't see C&G leaving thousands of people in the lurch like that.

I've just finished my level 3 2330 as well. Couldn't find a job in the industry to do the NVQ and so signed up for Uni.

Had a call a fortnight ago for an apprenticeship, 2 interviews later and the company have offered me a trial. Just have to wait until there's something appropriate for them to give me a trial on (they do a lot of work in schools/hospitals and petrochemical plants, so me not having a CRB check rules me out of the first two, and would you take someone with no experience to a petrochemical plant?)

Keep your head up and keep trying. Something will come along if you try hard enough.:)

Cheers mate , thanks for the quick reply, can I register for the NVQ 3 before I actually find work or do I need to find work first. I know that you need to be in the trade to actually start the NVQ as you are assesed on the job but is finding a job neccessary before you can register yourself ? Im living in Stoke at the minute but with a bit of luck I might be able to move to essex and work on site with a family member but this wont be untill next summer .

I think you can sign up before being employed, though confirm that with whichever training provider you go with. I think there are links to a few in the courses section.
