The NIC have received a lot of bad press on here over time, as have all the other scheme providers. But i will say in their defence, that they have bent over backwards to help me in my teaching job, speak to them about various stuff explain to them that i am in education, and they give excellent help and advice. The other bodies dont seem to want to know.

Measurement the quality of anywhere between 2 and 6 jobs against their technical standards books, record keeping, certificates, verification of your testing abilities, some on the spot question and answer, verification of insurances, qualifications....and I'm not even a member so I could be filling your head with all sorts of dodgy info

i think this is on the full assesment day, not the pre assessment

Good knowledge of Inspection and Testing procedures, be able to find things in regs, generally give the impression that you know what you are doing, and can do it safely.

pre assessment is a half day meeting

i know on my elecsa assessment it was just various questions on this n that......but nothing to get to flustered over.....you should be ok....

I've had lots of those....

My experience of assessments are that you 'point your suit' (be yourself and transparent)

from what iv read its a half day assessment to make sure all is in place, books, test equipment and the like, then the full day one is visiting jobs and assessing how you do the job

Well I had my assessment in January where there was a tick sheet of all the paperwork I needed to have in place and the first thing asked by my assessor was, 'do you have the latest edition of BS7671 and the OSG?'. To which I said, "yes and No"

You should have green 7671 and OSG. Some of the figures, as well as several categories have changed. Lots and lots of minor regs altered too.
