Have you seen this cable before ?

Hi all,

Probably just me not being as experienced as some of you guys, but have you seen twin and earth cable before which has 2 red conductors in it with no black for neutral ??

I changed a light for my girlfriend the other day and noticed that the twin and earth for the switch cable had 2 red conductors in it, just to make sure it wasnt sheathed or taped i stripped the cable back further and noticed that indeed it had 2 red conductors running through it. I didnt realise they made twin and earth just for switch lines ???

A twin red (16th edition) is used purely for light switches where there is no neutral. Twin brown now!!

Exactly what ponty said, and not many people bother as buying a full coil isnt cost effective if you dont use it that much especially when you can just sleeve a standard twin.

as above used to use it a lot in the 80s and 90s there used to be a way of identifying the cores by looking at the end of the conductor one would be completly red we would use this as our common line and one would look to be white on the inner side of the insulation so we would use this as our switched line
but using brown and blue sleeved makes identification easier

have seen a few times with two browns in just for switches , having said that i saw in as lighting cable very confusing
