Hello people, would someone be so kind as to advise me on a price or how to price the following.

Basically it's a shop getting a refurbishment and needs a price asap. I haven't seen any drawings yet so would need to have a minimum price to a potential maximum price. I don't need to supply any of the gear as it's all there except for sockets and back boxes;

50 double sockets, feeds above so I'm told and it's like an electrak type system, fairly straight forward (heard that before)

200 spot lights to relocate/reposition
200 florescent fittings revolvers/reposition

Lead to believe that its all close proximity

14 light pendants installed (electrak system again)
80 other "domestic" light fittings to install

I understand it's not a straight forward one but what sort of prices could I go with. Day rates? Price work? Hourly rates?

Any help much appreciated

We still get customers who keep bringing it down. If we where charging that much we would be sitting at home watching the phone.

With those rates I'm surprised you can afford a phone as there is little or no margin in them for overheads and expenses. If a customer wants to beat you down then you need to move on and find new ones, if they knock you down all the time then you will never get the real rate you want for the job as they will always do it because you will let them pay the price they want to pay not what you want

I know exactly what your saying UNG. We got a good customer base so il be going up slowly. You see we know our customers, so we plan in advance. If you think they gona knock 50 off. Put 50 on top of quote. I swear it works everytime. Im like "oh il knock 50 just for you". They get excitied and agree there and then.

Some customers just have this habbit of knocking you down. If i said for example £100 for C/U change (which i would never do). they would still be like. Oh no i can only give you 80. So you have to know what you gona expect.

Where are you based electrospark?

It was the bit where you said 'we normally charge...' that worried me.

im based in birmingham. Well it depends on job and customer. some a bit less and some a bit more. By the way we charge £350 for C/U change whether it takes a day or 2 hours.

Hey, I'm not criticising your prices, just interested in how you make it pay.

We priced a large PIR last week, came to £18,500 and the job went to another contractor for £11,200.

Now we've been specialising in Inspection & Testing work for long enough now to be pretty efficient and good at what we do so how can we be undercut by such a large margin?

To use skilled labour and carry out the inspection correctly would not be possible on that price, even factoring-in some profit on remedial works.

Ah well, you live and learn as they say!

That must be a huge place. The biggest PIR we did went to about £1000. We only small so it pays.
