When installing a smoke and heat alarm...how or what are people using to test the heat alarm...the heat test specifically.
 
A heat gun or an old paint stripper just be cautios about getting it too close as it may melt/burn or warp the plastic if your not careful
 
thanks, the main purpose for asking is, if an inspector was to ask...are we meant to carry 'more official' testing kits?

Cos the ones I have seen are ÂŁ300+
 
paint stripper, heat gun the same thing just different purpose as long as it generates the heat required to activate the heat detector i cant see the problem, ive never been asked to get anything more official but it all depends on the inspector he could be a pain in the ar...
